I have written entries on my personal blog site (Tim O’Hare) on a sporadic basis for around 15 years. For a while I tried to write an entry every day which was fun but ended with me questioning why exactly I was doing so and whether my time would be better spent doing something more useful (the obvious answer being ‘yes’ of course!). Then, last summer I unexpectedly started to write poems and in a surprising move (for me) I decided not to worry whether they were any good or whether publishing them was the best thing to do but to put them out there for all the world to see on their own website: And A Poet.

Now, six months or so later, I’ve decided that I will take a similar approach with some of the miscellaneous pieces of writing that I have done (and hopefully will add to over time). The result is this site. At the outset, there are just three pieces that I wrote a couple of years ago. I think of these as ‘sort-of-memoir’ pieces and call them Glances and Glimpses. Each reflects on a possession I own or an activity I enjoy and forms a bridge between my relationship with the possession or activity now and at some earlier point or points in my life. I don’t know whether I will add to these (I would like to) or whether I will add some other kinds of writing to this site or whether these three pieces will simply sit alone here together for ever more.
